Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) - Washington Accord
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) are the most important aspect of your engineering education, aligned with the Washington Accord standards. These are high-level competencies you'll achieve upon graduation. PLOs are attained through Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs), where each CLO maps to a specific PLO. We measure your progress using Bloom's Taxonomy (K1-K6), Knowledge Profiles (K1-K8), Problem Attributes (P1-P7), and Activity Attributes (A1-A5) to ensure comprehensive skill development throughout your 4-year journey.
Bloom's Taxonomy (K1-K6)
- K1: Remember - Recall facts and basic concepts
- K2: Understand - Explain ideas and concepts
- K3: Apply - Use information in new situations
- K4: Analyze - Draw connections among ideas
- K5: Evaluate - Justify a stand or decision
- K6: Create - Produce new or original work
Knowledge Profiles (K1-K8)
- K1: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
- K2: Math/Stats (Analytical tools)
- K3: Engineering Fundamentals
- K4: Specialist Knowledge
- K5: Design Support
- K6: Engineering Practice
- K7: Society & Ethics
- K8: Research Literature
Problem Attributes (P1-P7)
- P1: In-Depth Knowledge Required
- P2: Wide-Ranging/Conflicting Requirements
- P3: No Obvious Solution
- P4: Infrequently Encountered
- P5: Outside Standards/Codes
- P6: Diverse Stakeholder Needs
- P7: Many Interdependent Parts
Activity Attributes (A1-A5)
- A1: Diverse Resource Use
- A2: Resolve Significant Conflicts
- A3: Creative Use of Principles
- A4: Significant Consequences
- A5: Beyond Previous Experience
